Pick-Up
Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
The short version: Pick-Up does not require an account. We collect the minimum data necessary to find you a game. Your location is used only while you have an active search, and it is never shown to other users. We never sell your data.
1. Who We Are
Pick-Up is a sports matchmaking application for iOS and Android. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the App. By using Pick-Up you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information We Collect
Anonymous identifier
When you open the App for the first time, an anonymous random identifier is generated automatically by our authentication provider (Supabase). No email address, name, phone number, or personal details are required or collected.
Nickname (optional)
You may choose to set a nickname visible to other players in group chats. This is entirely optional. If you leave it blank you will appear as "Anonymous" to other players.
Location
When you start a search, the App requests your device location or allows you to select a location manually. This location is used to find other players searching nearby. Your location is never displayed to other users. The map and search radius shown in the App are visible only to you, on your own device. Your precise location is not stored permanently — it is removed from our servers when your search ends, expires, or you are matched with other players.
Chat messages
Messages sent in group chats are stored on our servers for the duration of the chat (up to 48 hours). After 48 hours, the chat expires and messages are deleted. You may delete any message you have sent at any time. Messages may be retained for a limited period in association with user reports submitted through the App.
Device token (push notifications)
With your permission, we store a device push notification token so we can notify you when you are matched with other players. You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings.
Reports and blocks
If you submit a report about another user, we store the report contents (reason, a snapshot of recent messages, and your anonymous ID) for moderation purposes. If you block a user, we store that you have blocked them so we can prevent them from contacting you or being matched with you again.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To match you with other players searching for the same sport nearby
- To deliver group chat messages between matched players
- To send push notifications when you are matched
- To review reports, enforce our Terms of Service, and honour blocks
- To diagnose crashes and improve app stability
We do not use your data for marketing, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the App.
4. Third-Party Services
Pick-Up uses the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.
Supabase
Our backend database and authentication provider. Stores anonymous user IDs, queue entries, match data, and chat messages.Supabase Privacy Policy
Firebase (Google)

Mapbox

Google AdMob
Used to display a banner advertisement at the top of the screen while you use the App. AdMob uses your device's advertising identifier to serve and measure these ads. You can opt out of personalised ads through your device settings.Google Privacy Policy

6. Data Sharing
We do not sell or rent your information to third parties. The only sharing that occurs is with the third-party service providers listed in Section 4, which is necessary to operate the App — including sharing your device's advertising identifier with Google AdMob to serve the banner ad described above.
Other players in your group chat can see your nickname (or "Anonymous" if you have not set one) and your messages. They cannot see your location, your anonymous ID, or any other information.
7. Age Requirement
Pick-Up is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will delete their data and remove their access promptly.
